Product description
An evergreen, profusely flowering shrub with an unusual appearance. It grows up to approx. 1 m in height. Young leaves are light green, later dark green, shiny and lanceolate. Creates white flowers with olive-yellow peduncles, shaped like small bells, collected in hanging, paniculate inflorescences on the tops of the shoots. Flowering is very profuse, it begins early, at the end of March, and ends in May. The variety is recommended for planting singly and in groups, for small home gardens, heathlands, as well as for growing in a pot. Planted in the company of azaleas and rhododendrons, it is an interesting, exotic complement.
Japanese Andromeda grows best in semi-shady or shady positions, in a sheltered place, sheltered from the wind. The substrate should be acidic (as in the case of rhododendrons and azaleas), moderately moist and humus. Flower buds are set in autumn and may freeze during the winter, so it is recommended to cover the bushes for the winter every year. When grown in a pot, pierisa can be overwintered in an unheated room.
