Quinces
Quinces are shrubs with universal application - they are decorative all year round. In spring due to effective flowers in various colors, and in autumn thanks to its large, yellow fruits. Well known and widespread due to the magnificent fruit that is great for various types of preparations and tinctures. Three species are most common in Poland:
- Intermediate quince (chaenomeles xsuperba) is the most popular species, a mixture of the other two. There are a lot of varieties that differ in the color of flowers and the habit, which gives us wide arrangement possibilities when arranging our garden
- Chinese quince (chaenomeles speciosa) is a large shrub, usually up to 2-3 m tall, with spiky shoots and elongated, spherical fruits
- Japanese quince (chaenomeles japonica) is a low and spreading shrub, growing up to about 1 m in height, with small leaves and round aromatic fruits of yellow color
