A very popular variety in Europe, one of the best early fruiting blueberries. It grows strongly, reaching about 1.8 m in height. Upright habit, dark green leaves, spectacularly turning orange and red in autumn. White flowers appear in May and they are eagerly pollinated by insects. The fruits are large, slightly flattened, dark blue, covered with a light blue coating. Duke blueberries are sweet, very tasty and aromatic, gathered in clusters on the tops of shoots. They ripen in the second half of July. They are great for both raw consumption and for various types of preserves.
Blueberries are easy to grow shrubs. They are characterized by very good frost resistance. In order for them to grow well and bear fruit abundantly, they must be planted in sunny positions and in light, humus soils with a pH in the range of 3.5-4.5. It is recommended to buy peat dedicated to blueberries with an acidic reaction or to properly acidify the substrate with preparations containing sulfur compounds. Pruning should only be done every few years to rejuvenate the plant by removing old shoots.
