Product description
A dwarf shrub with spreading shoots and a compact habit, reaching about 35 cm in height and 80 cm in width at the age of 10. Small, dark green and shiny leaves do not fall in winter. Creates semi-double carmine-red flowers. Blooms profusely in May and June. It looks impressive planted both individually and in a group, in the company of other heath plants - rhododendrons, azaleas, heathers. Due to its compact dimensions, it is ideal for small gardens. It is suitable for growing in pots (it can overwinter in a pot, in unheated rooms).
Japanese azaleas prefer an acidic and permeable substrate (pH 3.5 - 4.5) - a mixture of acidic peat or composted soil, a bit of sand and bark will work well. The area around the bush should be mulched with bark. They are characterized by good frost resistance, although in open positions, exposed to strong gusts of wind, it is worth covering them for the winter (using agrotextile or branches of coniferous trees). Unlike some rhododendrons, they do well in full sun and their leaves do not burn. They can also grow in partial shade.
